1. The City in the Country

Situated in the heart of British Columbia with a population of approximately 150,000, Abbotsford was established during the Fraser River gold rush in 1858 and attained city status in 1995.

Affectionately known as "The City in the Country," it seamlessly integrates urban sophistication with its agricultural roots. Abbotsford features lush landscapes, a vibrant farming tradition, and is home to the AHL team, the Abbotsford Canucks.

The city offers an abundance of outdoor and indoor activities like golf, hockey, curling, tennis and pickleball, as well as numerous parks and hiking trails. Explore its historic downtown, enjoy local flavours, and experience the unique blend of city and farm life.

Abbotsford resides on the traditional and unceded territory of the Stó:lō.

2. The Neighbourhoods

Abbotsford is divided up into 9 distinct areas.  Referencing the map below; Aberdeen, Bradner, Matsqui, Poplar, Sumas Mountain and Sumas Prairie surround West, Central and East Abbotsford. These areas vary from each other in terms of topography, lot size, home type and prices while West, Central and East Abby are more dense than the surrounding areas.
